ABOUT
ABOUT JESSE PIERPOINT
Jesse Pierpoint is a mixed media artist and creative director based in Spokane, Washington, known for creating layered, narrative-driven artwork that transforms memories into visual stories. Working at the intersection of fine art and graphic design, Pierpoint's distinctive style combines bold composition, vintage typography, found ephemera, and acrylic painting to create pieces that resonate with depth and nostalgia. His work has been featured in prominent installations across the Pacific Northwest, from The Citadel's courthouse to downtown Spokane's public spaces. As both an artist and the creative director of BKGD Creative, Pierpoint brings a unique dual perspective to his practice—balancing conceptual thinking with hands-on creation. This approach has made him a sought-after collaborator for sports organizations, corporations, and private collectors seeking artwork that tells a story and creates an emotional connection.
THE ARTIST
Pierpoint's artistic journey began at Azusa Pacific University and has been shaped by an unconventional advantage: dyslexia. What might have been a limitation became his greatest asset, training him to think in images before words and to see composition as a language of its own. When he's not in the studio, Pierpoint is navigating what he calls his "18-year artist residency program"—raising five children alongside his wife in Spokane. This daily immersion in family life, coupled with his deep roots in the Inland Northwest, infuses his work with authenticity and a profound understanding of what makes moments meaningful. His daughter Ava is following in his footsteps, often joining him in the studio and developing her own artistic voice.
THE PROCESS
Pierpoint's mixed media approach is intentionally layered—both literally and metaphorically. Each piece begins with research, conversation, and understanding what the subject truly represents to those who will experience it. Vintage materials—old maps, scorecards, ticket stubs, newspapers—are carefully selected and incorporated beneath paint and composition, creating literal layers of history within the work. Typography becomes a design element, guiding the eye and reinforcing the narrative. The result is artwork that rewards close inspection, revealing new details and connections with each viewing. Whether creating a 96-inch public installation or an intimate 24-inch canvas, Pierpoint's work maintains a consistent commitment to storytelling, craftsmanship, and emotional resonance.
