A Spokane Collaboration

Davenport Grand Collab with Ben Joyce

The Collaboration

In a first-time collaboration between two distinguished artists in Spokane, this original mixed-media work was created for the opening of Lilac & Pine at the Davenport Grand. The piece weaves together Spokane's most beloved landmarks, events, and stories, connecting every guest, local and visitor alike, to the city they came to experience.

"Art adds emotional texture to a dining experience in ways that go beyond decoration. It shapes atmosphere, influences perception, and helps turn a meal into something memorable."

Painter of Place

Ben invites the viewer to transcend their experience of place through a radical new use of structure, form, and elements. While studying fresco, sculpture, and color in Florence, he began his search for a new expressive connection to place, ultimately arriving at a birds-eye vantage point that allows each viewer to recreate all of their memories of a location.

“From the beginning, we knew we wanted Lilac & Pine to feel deeply connected to Spokane, not only through its culinary vision, but through its story, spirit, and sense of place. Bringing in talented local artists Ben Joyce and Jesse Pierpoint to create a piece inspired by Spokane was incredibly important to us. Their work beautifully captures the energy, creativity, and character of our community, and the final piece exceeds every expectation. We are honored to feature such a meaningful and striking work of art in our beautiful new restaurant, creating an experience that celebrates both local talent and the city we are proud to call home.”
